Use a saltwater brine to firm up your single eggs before you tie them up in roe bags. Roe bags are great for when you get low on eggs.

And use the stretch line that guys use to tie up sardine fillets on Kwikfish. It works much better - you don't have to tie a knot, it just tightens on itself.

First, you want to make sure not to tie them too big. It can and will interfere with your hook set. About the size of a nickel is good.

Secondly, put the nickel sized glob into the center of the egg sack and gather up all the corners. Make sure you gather all the corners or your eggs will puke out any of the openings. If you buy the pre-cut mesh, try to find the bigger ones. Makes it a little easier to work with. Or cut them bigger as you peel it off the roll. It's better to have a bunch of mesh and magic thread already pre-cut before you start or it can be a gooey mess trying to do it once you've already got the gunk all over your hands.

Thirdly, use "Magic Thread". Wrap it around the gathered up corners several times. It ties it's own knot! Trim any loose ends. I always run my hook through the knot end of the egg sack then wrap my bait loop around it. You'r eggs will last 10 times longer and they milk out pretty good too. It's a pain in the rear but well worth it if you're low on eggs. You also keep your bait in the water longer since you're not having to put a fresh glob of eggs on almost every cast. Juice 'em up real good with your favorite scent.

Fourthly(?)- If you've cured your eggs using Pro-cure or Pro-glow make sure you wear plastic food-service gloves while tying your eggs sacks. That stuff eats my finger tips right off. I believe there's also a warning on the bottle about it.

Also if you wanna try different color mesh for tying bags you can use white scarving that you would find at Wal-mart. Just use rit dye to color the scarving, there are many colors avaliable so you can have a bit of an edge over other people.

Cheese cloth (like gauze) can be purchased at a fabric store and comes off big rolls permitting you to cut to any size.. I like it better than the nylon stuff carried in sport stores because it is softer. It is white tho, but that shouldn't be a prooblem. smile
