I took my son up to the Vedder this past weekend hoping to find some kings in the river. We drove up Friday night and arrived at the Comfort Inn in Chilliwack about 11 pm. The next morning when we got ready to leave at 6 am I noticed that the driver's side door was unlocked and I distinctly remembered hitting the lock switch. All of the other doors were still locked. The glove compartment door was open and several papers/ owners manual from the center console were on the floor. Unfortunately we had left our passports in the center console so that we would not possibly leave them at the hotel. They were missing. We had taken all of our fishing gear into the room, so we didn't lose any gear. On the positive side the truck was not damaged and a new rain jacket and some coolers in the truck were ignored. When I reported the incident to the RMCP, they said that there have been a lot of vehicle break-ins. It will be a pain in the ass though since I will need a passport for a trip to Singapore in 3 weeks. On the fishing side, it was strictly a pinks show in the Vedder. Lots of fish being caught though most were snagged or flossed. My son did catch a bright 8 lb native coho which had to be released and I had a summer run on about the same size. Once they get some heavy rain up there, the river will be plugged with big kings.
