I have ben toying with the idea of trying a motor on my pontoon boat. Any suggestions for electric motors on pontoon boats? Is it worth the hassel?

How do you move it now? Aren't they pretty tough to oar?

I currently have oars only. I have had no problems with controlling them with that. Just curious about the motor.

I have seen them with electrics and they seem pretty sweet. I would love to have one with a remote so I could keep the dang thing positioned rght to cast toward the shore when floating the Yakima.

I have a pontoon and do the following.
I use both fins and oars. Use the oars for the whitewater and stretchs that require it, but use the fins in the slower stretches for free drifting, or drifting bobbers (just put the oars up) Fins are also great when you are fighting a fish and need to get to shore or just control the pontoon. I don't know if you ever tried to row and fight a hot fish at the same time, especially if you don't want to drop anchor smile
In the summer months I will use my pontoon at the mouth of the Big White Salmon and just use fins and pull around my float for steelhead. I would think a trolling motor with battery would be too much weight for a pontoon. I am talking about the 8-9ish foot length pontoons.
