I fished this river November of last year & did great for early winter run steelies. Going back up next weekend to start looking at its progress. Hope that it produces the same this year.

I haven't fished the Elwha for many years (Too many) I live southen Cal for the time being, but hope to be up in the Sequim area around Christmas to fish the Elwha and other peninsula rivers. What is going on with the dam removal on the Elhwa?

The Elwha is still way out of shape and might no be in shape for quite a while yet. It is running the color (and thickness) of concrete. It may not clear up before the salmon closure.

Last I heard it has been pushed back another year... it's still a few years out. We have gotten a preview of how silty the river will be from the last round of flooding....

Elkrun, Is there anything going to be done above the dams I.E. reforestation, bank stabilizatio , Etc. Are they blow the dams and let rip.

There will be massive plantings of native species to stabilize the bank. There will be no access for a long time. The dams will be removed in stages, around the fish runs... (not sure how that will work) to control the heavy siltation. There will be no fishing for at least a decade. I think the date is 2006... maybe later, I cant remember for sure.
