HEya,
Was thinking about running down to the Kalama river. Has anyone fished it, and if so is there any good spots for bank fishing, or directions to what part of the rver to fish.

Thanks,
Cam

Went there Saturday and fished the canyon "Painted Rock " area. NO FISH!!!! I used eggs, spinners, bobber and jigs, spoons and whatelse I had. We did see a few skanks roll but they were few and far between. The river was VERY low and clear. Looked like summer levels. It was raining all day but Saturdays rain didnt budge the river. Reports from a Bait and Tackle store down there stated " B-Run Silvers throughout the river" If they were there we sure didnt see or find them. Maybe by this weekend the river will come up and there will be fish. Dont believe the reports from that " Bait and Tackle store. They'll say anything to get you down there.

Fishaddict is right. The fishing sucks on the Kalama right now and it has not been good at all lately. Its suffering the same late run no show that the other SW streams have.

I fished the Kalama the weekend before last, and cought a couple silvers. Saw a few summer runs, but nothing to speak of. The best place I have found for silvers is the lower river from the beginner hole down. I herd from a friend that 3 weeks ago they did really well on the silvers. I agree with the previous posts about listening to the reports from pritchards, or the Tacoma News Tribune. I have not found them to be to helpful. The Steelie fishing should pick up with the rain we are getting now, and it might also push the fish up that they are still catching beyond the mouth. Good Luck
