Most valuable Player... yeah right, if you mean the bank acount with the most value...

No way does a guy on a last place team deserve the MVP just cause his numbers were better than the rest of the league.

Nothing against A-rod... but in his case, I think his salary is a detriment to the team and contributes to their lack of performance...

I guess its time for a new catagory. Best all around player in the league.

I'm gonna have to beg differ on this one. MVP usually means putting up the best numbers. Its not always on the championship team. At the end of the day you can't blaim A-Rod for his salary, its the no braniners that decided to pay him that salary. Heck the guy has a great agent. Its not A-rod that dealed with the contract on his own. Remember his agent is going to get as much as he can get for his players just so at the end of the day he gets his. A-Rods a solid player. Comes to play daily even when he's on a lousy team. Heck bring him over to the Yankees, we'll take him thumbs . Put him over at third or Second laugh .

He only hit .298...that is not a MVP-type batting average.

Ya, he is so good that you will watch him leave Texas soon.

Although I am not a Arod fan he is the best but with that salary they can't get other players to fill a championship team.

The MVP is more than numbers. I don't care if A-Rod batted .400, hit 65 HR's, had 150 RBI's and won the triple crown. It's all about what that player did for his TEAM. Just like Tejada from the A's last year, they would not have been in the playoffs without what he did for them. So what did A-Rod do to get the Strangers out of the cellar....NOTHING!! A-Rod is a great player, but MVP, no way.
Good luck and tight lines, Jeff laugh laugh

you guys wouldn't be bashing A-rod if he was still wearing a Mariner's uniform, you would be chestbeating that Seattle has the MVP, no matter what his stats were.
some of you are still jealous.

Hey Guys

MVP stands for Most" VALUABLE" Player. He has the largest salary in Sports so he is he most VALUABLE!. If he's the best player is baseball thats a different story.

The best player on the last place team is NEVER the most valuable player in the league, regardless of how the voting goes. What is it, exactly, that he's done for his team? Kept them from losing 100??

Please, numbers only? I suppose you guys that think numbers are all that matters think Bonds is justified in winning too, disregarding the fact that his teammates all think he's a big poopyhead. wink

The one A-Rod should have won was in '96. This one deserves an asterisk. The guy didn't even bat .300.

And don't *even* go thinking he'd buy into the Yankess putting him somewhere other than ss. Yuck, yuck.

They need to rename the award, plain and simple. Best player, biggest salary, biggest prima donna, whatever.
