When trying to rig the pink worm below a float, I am having issues keeping it near the bottom. The worm tends to want to float instead of sinking. What are some of the ways you guys attack this problem? Please explain in detail or a picture would even be better. Thanks

Put a split shot about 6" to a foot on your leader above the worm.

You could rig it on a jig head. Just don't tell anyone you're a bass master. heh heh

Us canadians have fished pink worms for a long time so try the following because it works for us:
fish it on a leader that is only 18" from your sinker. Any steelhead that can see this and wants it will move a little to bite it. You should also try rigging it "upside down" with the hook at the head and the line coming out about 2/3rd's the way up. Steelhead seem to go for the fattest part of the worm more than the skinny tail part. If you fish a river that is "tea" colored, try using worm that are a pink color heading towards white. They seem to show up really well and fish love them. Another thing about worms is they seem to work better & better later into the season.

I think that drifting the worm is 10 times more effective. However, under a float I'd just put it on a jighead like Jerry said.

I do similar to what Jerry posted about adding a split shot. But I paint several up in a cerise color and lighly crimp it on right next to the head of the worm. That keeps all the slack out of the leader so you see all bites instantly. I hook as many float fishing that way as i do drift fishing them.

I usually rig mine with the hook emerging about 2/3 of the way down the worm's body and a split shot about 6 to 8 inches up the leader. Works pretty well. My buddy is a "worm man" and prefers to put them on a jig head. He does very well.

Try using non buoyant worms, most likely the worms that you are fishing are either neutrally buoyant or are fully buoyant.

I fish non buoyant or neutrally buoyant worms under a float.

Good luck. beer

P.S. the easiest way too test the buoyancy of your worm/lure is too put it in a bucket and see where it ends up after resting.
