Those local Forks boys take the trophy for bein' tough!
Every clam opener, the rest of the state shows up, dressed in 3 layers of micro-fleece, neoprened to the kazoo and keeping to the high ground.
And then there's the Forks Boyz. Sportin' no coats, whacked off hickory shirts and bulging biceps, out standin' in the surf. And when the water occasionally recedes that far, they're down on 3 points, with their other arm in the mud, nearly to their shoulder. And by Gawd, no matter HOW big the incoming wave is, they don't let go until they get their clam.
They MAY show up wearing waders, but it must be just so they can fill em up and feel "closer to the great outdoors".

These guyz are Hard Core Clam Hunters.
The rest of us are merely diggers.

Diana,
It's not like a Forks boy could get any wetter. The only difference between the surf and the rain to them is the salt. And even a Forks boy could use a little starch in his pants every once in a while.
Sure sounds like you had more fun watching than digging though.

Sounds like a perfect description of my digging technique on Sunday - we must do things in Satsop the way they do in Forks. No fungus gonna grow inside my waders after the salt dip I put them through laugh

That is the traditional way to dig razors! I've seen gals in jeans and a t-shirt do the same thing many times. It was pretty nice out on the beaches or this dig, for December anyway. I've been much colder in April openers than I was this weekend.

Hey Piper dont forget where your wife came from. She is a true redneck just like the rest of us Forks Boys with the soap on a rope around our neck. Oh yeah that was my license, must of forgot the soap at home. HaHa! And thank you Diana for the compliment. We dont get many of those around here.
