I mostly use maxima line for steelhead and salmon fishing but recently started to use izorline. I really like the strength of izorline but i notice that it tends to frey alot easier than maxima. Does anyone have the same problem? I went back to maxima and have not lost a fish since! Coincidence????? Who Knows

I also use both maxima and izorline, but I tend to like the maxima a lot more for the same reason. It just frays to easy and stretches to much. I actually prefer Berkley's Big Game over izorline. I use the green color in the winter and the smoke in the summer, never tried the smoke in the winter, but I'm sure it would be an alright mono for the winter. Never done me wrong!!!

than the very best?

Maxima UG all the way!

Ain't nothin' better than Maxima UG, so I ain't even gunna bother with that there other line! He he he.

However, FLOUROCARBON for LEADER...now that's something that at times I like even better than my beloved Maxima UG.

haven't lost a single fish on izorline yet...it's great line

i'm pretty much a maxima convert. big 5 had 1/4lb spools of izorline platinum for a while(seems like a 1 time stocking) for 9.99 each. i think i got something like 2000 yards of 12lb for the price of a 1 shot spool of maxima

Tried many different lines except Izorline. Always came back to Maxima UG.

Along the same thread (non pun intended) I have tried florocarbon leaders they seem to be a denser material. Instead of snagging my slinky I was losing alot of hooks. Anyone else have this experience?

I have heard that Seguiar florocarbon is the best way to go for leader material even though it has hardly any stretch because it is so abrasive tough.

Yellow Izor with a little mucelin on it so it floats. Use it on my cold weather float reel. Braid gets too nasty in freezing weather. Use UG for leaders most of the time. If the waters air clear then its Seaguar Fluerocarbon for the leaders.

Alway's izorline for main and maxima for the leader. Have never had a problem with izor I think you can't get any better. confused

I picked up a spool of maxima ultra green the other day ( I always use chameleon) when I opened the package the line started falling off the spool like twisted line on a spinning reel it looked kind of shiny to me and had a hard kind of plastic feel to it could it of been a bad spool?
I tried izorline twice no abrasion resistance wont work for where I fish. laugh

Izor for mainline and leader. I think they call it the Platinum green?

I have found that 8 and 10# izor leader isnt nearly as strong as 8 and 10# Max UG as leader. BUT...12# Izor has unbelievable strength. If you use 12# Izor main and 8 or 10# Max UG leader you have a setup that can turn some Heads'

However, both are relatively high memory line, meaning they can coil on a spinning outfit if not matched with the right weight or lure. A great low memory, abrasion resistant, smooth casting mainline is Berkley Big Game. Match big game with Max or Izor leader and you can turn about any fish you want without help from braided or flouricarbon. thumbs
