We're gonna try to troll Lk Washington on Saturday since all the rivers on the rise. The plan is to cover the upwind side of the floating bridge(s) with downriggers, lite line and leaders and artificials.
Haven't done this fishery much at all, since I fell in the steelhead game, but with those rivers likely out of shape by the weekend, and the seasquawks out, figure it's worth a try.
Any useful info would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

Wander over to WashingtonLakes.com and review some of the archived reports from past years (front page, left side link under "Reports"). You'll find a wealth of information that anglers have posted. Good luck and send me a report! thumbs

the upwind side has a habit of being really nasty with waves hitting the bridge and coming off the bridge at he same time. jTry the downwind side where it will be like silk for the first 60 yards or so. needle fish spoons with a little worm is the way to go.

SCT, so the worm doesn't mess with the action of the spoon...? I'll have to try that! Anyone been out lately?

SCT, what fishing I've done on Lk Wa for trout, I've had my best success on the windward side. I would guess that feed gets concentrated on that side because of the wind, and maybe those trout are less boat shy with all the wave comotion. Not to worried about it being nasty.
Also I believe the regs say you can't fish with in a 100 yards of the bridges.
Not to say I've had much success.

The key is a fish finder and a down rigger. You have to be right on top of them. Fish a wedding ring with a smallish piece of worm, one hook. Make sure you have at least 30 yards of line off your ball they can see real well and are spooky. Check out any point going into the big bays as well.

I usually troll with downriggers or leaded line. Large spoons are the ticket for me. Needle fish or silver hordes. I'll be out there tomorrow if the wind is not too bad. I'll be in my 26 foot bayliner ciera- white with a black top.

Well, were back and we did okay i guess. 3 cutts and 1 large "clipped rainbow".
Can anyone explain or have any guesses why this fish is clipped? Doesn't look like a searun fish.
Straight spoons and rapalas accounted for all the strikes.
One of the cutties was 24".
I think we'll do it again tomorrow.
Thanks for the input.

We were in the aluminum center console with the Mercs.

Please learn fish ID. WDFW clips all hatchery steelhead, coho, and chinook. Right now, ya gotta release all Rainbows over 20".

All the fish were released, including the 'bow. Still got ocean coho and chinook to eat from '04, canned, smoked and frozen. Haven't even kept a steelhead this year.
We fished around boeing, off the bar of the cedar, after nada around I-90, but were not going back tomorrow but I'd like to try it again. Even trout are fun on noodle rods and 4lb leader. (30-50 feet down). Gonna try and fish steelies in the morning.
Sorry, no pics to share here. No D-camera. Just the good ol' 35mm. Santa wans't as good to me as I'd hoped.
Thanks.
