Body recovered in Sultan River

Herald staff

Search and rescue teams, assisted by a helicopter, were used to recover an adult body on the Sultan River on Saturday.

The body was discovered near some logs in the river by two fishermen, said sheriff's office spokeswoman Jan Jorgensen. The body appeared to have been in the river for some time, she said.

She said there was no reason to suspect foul play in the death.

The Snohomish County Medical Examiner's Office is performing an autopsy, she said.

Anyone know anything about this ?

No reason to suspect foul play? It is obvious that they have not checked out the avg. citizen in the sky valley if they canmake that statement. One of the highst per cap drug, alcohol, abuse, drop out rate, teen pregnancy areas in the state.

The Meth problem is way worse than anybody could even imagine. It is exploding and growing far faster than our law enforcement resources can even to try to keep up with.

Funny that it gets very little press coverage when it is the biggest criminal law enforcement problem we have in this country. maybe if it did get more press local law enforcement would get more funding to fight this. But then agian govenor Locke is not very fond of the county and municipal law enforcement in this state due to the lack of co-operation between him and WASPC on some tribal law enforcement issues.

Freakin meth maggots are everywhere these days...I wonder how much crime is driven by this drug....? A buddy of mine is a deputy near Yelm...they were busting a lab one time near the Dechutes R. when the cook threw part of the lab into the river..next day the fire dept got a call of a BBQ accident. It sems that a camper downstream found an anhydrous tank the cook had dumped and since it was made from a brand new propane tank and he hooked it up to his BBQ....well...you can do the math........

Id estimate from what I know Methamphetamine use and manufacture drives around 75% of our thefts, Burglaries, Car Prowls and Motor Vehicle Thefts and this is most likey an underestimate.

Wow that high. The sheriff here in Fall city says there are 4 cooking that he knows about on a monthly basis. Makes sense now why I have had stuff stolen the last few years . Bad enough that I am building a steel gate across the driveway heavy enough that a cement truck could not knock it down.

People that are addicted to Methamphetamine will do anything to to get it. It takes complete controll over their lives. 95% of users cannot function as normal citizens due to thier addictions.

Over 90% of people that try and kick the habbitt relapse at some point.

The only drug that is near as bad and destructive as Methamphetime is Crack Cocain, but Meth is even worse than Crack and is widely available.

A kid can make it himself in a matter of hours with a couple boxes of matches and a can of acetone or paint thinner as the main ingredients. With a few more ingreedients you could make $200.00 worth of crystal meth in the time it takes to watch a movie.

Auto theft is hardly a crime in this state. It takes 7 CONVICTIONS before any jail time is handed down. Ask your car insurance company.

Meth is a bad drug there's no question about that. However, it's not the only game in town that is dangerous and causes our society massive amounts of money to deal with. Alcohol is every bit as addictive with the only real difference being that is legal. I work with alcoholics and addicts on a daily basis and have been doing so for 30 years. Look at all the people killed by drunk drivers, how many times are drunk drivers released to drive again etc. How many receive tons of medical care because of the devestating effects of alcohol on the liver and other organs? Trust me tons of your tax dollars go to treating these problems.
Relapse is common with alcoholics and addicts, however many do achieve lifetime sobriety and recovery. Treatment does help but only if the individual wants the help.

All of us, at least those of us over 35, have seen or known old burnt out heroin addicts.

One thing you never see is an old burnt out meth addict. They end up dead and buried.

Just goes to show how nasty the stuff is.

Hoghunter I agree that alcohol can be just as destructive, but Meth is an entirely different ball game from anything else out there.

There are many alcoholics in society that can function as normal productive citizens. There are even many Cocain and Heroin addicts that function as productive citizens.

I have seen no Meth addicts that can maintain a productive life for any substantial amount of time.

Rich, I totally agree that Meth is probably the most destructive because of all the lethal chemicals they put in the mix. We started seeing the first Meth addicts in treatment about seven years ago and I know numerous people who are still clean today. They don't function as well as they did compared to a junkie or cocaine addict, but many of them are quite functional. I really do compare Meth addicts with hard core alcoholics though as the destruction to the body and mind is radical. It's hard to treat either of these populations as the brain damage is significant.

I have watched people I grew up with destroy there lives with meth, almost did myself and had to spend my 21 birthday at monroe and wasn't fishing. meth you dont sleep, you became paraniod and delirioum sets in. you cant funtion and your enviroment of people become really shadey, kids dont have school supplies to go to school, you dont trust anyone, and getting high becomes a big priority for ya, people rip there parents off for meth, and it takes time to recover, my Dad is the biggest alcoholic I know and he makes 75 ,000 a year and goes to work everyday and pays his bills on time. there is no comparison between the effects of meth and alcohol. meth is to extreme.

I agree with everything Rich says, I hope one day meth cooks think about how many lives and families they have destroyed.

I'm 25 now and most of my old "buddies" are in caught in the system and hosed, well thank god for fishing
