Kennedy just made himself and the rest of his party look foolish. Funny, I didnt catch the lies. I did hear alot of statements about things of down to earth reality that may be unpopular to some extreemist groups but its the way it is, and we have taken the correct steps so far to deal with it and now we no these stepps will be continued.

Well, he had my vote for re-election (like chosing between cancer and aids really) until the crap with amnesty for the illegals. Anyone even think about how much influence on our laws and legislation 11 million new voters can have? Look at California, Hispanics already have a VERY large effect on lawmaking, imagine what that will be then with another 3-4 million.... I am tired of politicians selling out America for votes.... Shame on him. Seal the border, then fine. But giving amnesty and leaving the border as open as it is and they will only come in greater droves. Remember Reagans amnesty in 86? That was supposed to end the illegal flood... Yeah, right! MC

The migration will never stop as long as wages in Mexico are $1/hr and $7 an hour here in the states. These folks are just trying to feed their families. Mexico gets capital inflows of somoething like $11 billion a year from paychecks being sent home.

Silver Hilton, I'd also run across the border and work if I was a native of Mexico and my family was hungry, but the timing of Bush's amnesty offer stinks. I doubt the Administrations best intentions were for the hispanic families left behind in Mexico. Some of the crap both parties have tried to pull off over the years is so cleche' and predictable that it's hard to believe they actually do it. It's like watching my 2 year old try and steal a piece of candy.

Why is it that we always have to choose between the lessor of 2 evils?

because there's usually only two names on the ballot? Unless you throw Perot or Nader in the mix.............then you have two evils and a whack-job.

I was in school and missed the speech; did Bush touch on the environment?
I heard that he proposes some type of funding for Community Colleges to train those out of work. That make any sense? They once held jobs so they are obviously trained. Seems to me the money needs to go to creating more jobs for Americans.
Perhaps if the borders were a little tighter and less immigrants were given amnesty, then out of work Americans would be able (or forced) to take jobs they've been reluctant to perform in the past - like picking fruit and cleaning Walmarts.

Enlighten us on all of the liberal governments and countries in the world that are powerhoses in terms of economic contribuiton ,charitable contribution, first to put there hand up and volunteer to defend people that cannot defend themselves and give them hope for just a bit of freedom to have what we have in this country, developing technologies, medicines, science not just copying what others do? What system is bottom line better for the average citizen of the world.
I think what will be on your list are nations that are essentially welfare states.
So go ahead and vote for a ideology that sounds good but in practice does little for it's own people and almost nothing for others. In the process tear down a system that produces private charitable funds in excess of all the countries in the world combined public and private charitable donations. That would be a great thing for the world.
You cannot have your cake and eat it as they say and a mature person ,one who accepts the responsibilty that comes along with his fortune in this world , thinks about others before himself.

You know, I'm very very liberal, but I used to watch everyone of Reagan's and Bush I's state of the unions, so I would at least know what I was up against. But I can't stand to even look at this one. That idiotic smirk is just too much to bear.
His dad was obviously a smart guy, with a wealth of experience and a long record of public service, war hero, spy, ambassador, etc. You could have some respect for the guy. A bad president but at least a president. Reagan was a lightweight but at least he could pull it off. when you looked at him, you could buy that he was the leader of the free world (at least until he opened his mouth). But this one simply does not fill the suit! He looks like some dopey kid dressed up in his dad's clothes (pun intended I guess).
Never mind that he didn't even win. He's a bag man, the point guy in a scheme to deliver this country and its economy to the cronies that have been handling him and giving him passes his whole career. The policies are completely scorched earth, as if they don't even care about re-election; just take the money and run. The surplus didn't evaporate into thin air; it went into people's pockets. Guess which people. Another way to characterize a "jobless" recovery is as a "100%-profit" recovery. Woo hoo! Thanks Uncle Dick.
You know what grandpa? If by some fluke it could somehow happen, Sharpton would be an absolute disaster for this country, and a 100% improvement over our current leadership.

For all of you that thought Bush said he was offering amnesty, he distinctly said he opposed amnesty. Here's what he said: "Tonight I also ask you to reform our immigration laws, so they reflect our values and benefit our economy. I propose a new temporary worker program to match willing foreign workers with willing employers, when no Americans can be found to fill the job. This reform will be good for our economy -- because employers will find needed workers in an honest and orderly system. A temporary worker program will help protect our homeland -- allowing border patrol and law enforcement to focus on true threats to our national security. I oppose amnesty, because it would encourage further illegal immigration and unfairly reward those who break our laws. My temporary worker program will preserve the citizenship path for those who respect the law, while bringing millions of hardworking men and women out from the shadows of American life. Here's a link to the entire text. http://www.salon.com/news/wire/2004/01/20/sotu_speech/

I just had the impression throughout the entire disgraceful event that Cheney's whole arm was rammed up Jr's arse as if in some kind of Hensonesque nightmare.
I was just hoping someone could take the time to explain something to me?
You know that big 'tax cut' that brought our economy around? Anyone believe that crap, really?
Probably..............and that my friends is disgraceful.
Lets see....the world is safer from terror because we got Sadaam (big, bad, evil, plot-to-kill-my-fathering, bad guy yes, terrorist no) ...yet Osama lives, Al Qaeda is regrouping the threatcon is yellow (or is it orange.....AGAIN!)....this is "safer"? I'd feel safer with Gabby Hayes as President....at least we'd all get the good whiskey!
While not lies directly these are both misrepresentations of the facts.
Worst President since Herbert Hoover and maybe (probably)the dumbest.....that's the sorry state of our union.

Yeah g'pa....here is my fishy thought for the day.
I think I'll step out into the backyard and see if I can't hook another native steelhead today.
Happy now?
You know your republican deity is taking a big republican dump in our backyard, environmentally speaking don't you? But you don't care do you? You'll probably just hire someone with questionable immigration status to clean up the mess for you.
....while paying him or her far less than you'd expect to make yourself were that your station in life.
State of our union: Sheep....shepherded poorly.
