President's Message from Stephen Barrett

It's time to get the Eastside Chapter up and running! Our chapter will serve the Bellevue, Redmond, Sammamish and Kirkland communities of boaters and anglers. We seek a blend of the ole fishing pros along with those who are new to the sport of fishing.

Our February meeting will be the organizing meeting before our official launch in March. We invite anyone who would like to help in any manner to attend this start up session. At this meeting, the organizing board will share its vision for the chapter, get input from attendees and will develop teams of people who can participate in kicking off the first meeting.

Already we have over 40 people who have expressed a desire to join the Eastside Chapter.

As with most of the PSA chapters, we will blend educational speakers, annual events, special programs, chapter outings and participation in the regional derbies. Members will get to learn more, share fishing stories and have fun with others who share the passion of fishing.

One of the most well received ideas for the chapter's activities is an annual fishing outing for children dealing with disabling illnesses.

If you would like to participate with the new Eastside Chapter and would like to be part of the “roll of the sleeves” crew to help kickoff the first meeting, call Stephen Barrett (425) 883-6405.

Just signed the family up to PSA at the Boat Show, and looking forward to getting involved.

Wish there was a Chapter a bit closer to home (it's about 90 miles to Redmond), but that's OK...we don't mind the drive.

This should be a fun chapter, we are getting a good mix of fresh and saltwater interest. Another thing we are really trying to do is get the non boaters hooked up with guys who have boats and open seats.

We all know the only way to get our message out to the state is to have a loud voice. The PSA is recogonized now, as being a voice for the sports fisher.

You guys are on the right track. Each chapter differs from the others as it molds itself to the intrests of it's members. Your location will probably provide you with many members interested in rivers/lakes fishing.

Please feel free to contact myself or any of the other officers at Sno-King PSA for suggestions or answers to questions. We found the state board and other chapters to be a valuable source of information for us.

Tom Nelson and John Keizer of Salmon University came to our last Puget Sound Anglers State Board meeting. The PSA State Board is comprised of two members, usually the Pres and VP, of each PSA chapter. They are setting up a place on their website for each chapter to have a spot for current events. They are interested in seeing PSA grow hard and strong statewide at an accelerated rate. Afer all Tom Nelson and Jim Goerg of the Reel News started PSA. We would really like to thank John and Tom. It is up to each chapter to put in their own writing. This is going to be a great tool for us to keep building our way into political strength to help with our recreational fishing and fishing seasons.

Good luck Stephen on the new chapter. Hope you got a few pointers from SnoKing. Let us know if you need anything. PSA is on track to really grow in size and in impact on sports fishing thanks to dedicated people like you. I think you will attract some other dedicated sports fishers and I hope your success will be a win for all sports fishing enthusiasts.
