I put a six horse kicker on my DB and I need to re work the rear anchor. It is a foot release anchor system and has about a ten inch arm that extends over the transom.my plan was to just mount it to the side but it will interfear with the motor when turned hard one way.has any body else come up with a good fix.I was thinking of mounting the anchor in the bow.But from what i have heard it is best left in the rear.maybe somebody has a link to a site with some different brackets that would work.anyways your input would be real helpful.

They make a side mount that is about 6 inches long. I think that should work just fine. I'll try to find some info for you.

I just happen to have the same scenario. I called Willie and they want $75.00 for the side mount realese mentioned above. I'm getting one ASAP, soon as the tax return comes...

Sportco has the diercks side anchor release for about $65. I need same one on my DB. Don Hill DB's has about the best selection of anchor gear you'll find. But pricey.

I was also looking at the side mount but would'nt make your boat pull funny in the water when anchored.I would think with just a little bit of current it could be dangerous.

You cannot anchor in as fast as water with a sidemount. I had to remove mine because there were a few times it started swaying so bad the boat almost took on water. ever since I switched to the anchor mount in the middle I have had no problems.

If you never plan on anchoring in faster water though it will be fine.

I have a side mount on my Willie and have no problems with it swaying too much. Only in water too fast to drop an anchor in anyway. I some times have to adjust my blades of the oars so they don't act as a rudder. Outdoor emporium had them a few months ago for around $45,if my memory serves me, it usually dosen't so take it for what it's worth.

happy boating
