Here's something in Sunday's Tribune. Pretty good read with a pro-recreation side to it.

Low water warning

I know there are many here that make their living in construction, logging, and development, so I understand some are going to have a problem with this. But I do think we, as a state, need to start paying more attention to water resources. After all, the fish we chase kinda needs it.

I'd like to see the environment, specifically recreational fishing and hunting, become a major political issue in the next gubernatorial race in Washington state. I don't care if the next govenor is democrat or republican. All I want is the govenor to be keenly interested in protecting the sportman's heritage in this state.

Goharley-
Could not agree more - Stream flows and water rights issues are hugely important to the future of both our fishery resource and the fishing that resource supports.

Given the pro-development attitudes in this state my humble opinion is that the chances of meaningful changes (more water for fish) in water management in this state has about the same odds of happening as salmon learning to live without water.

Continued apathy by most in this state assures that special interests will continue to have their way.
