Been digging up some of the more recent work by UW graduate students and their studies on steelhead.

I was directed towards the Environmental Biology of Fishes and 2 specific articles by McLean and Seamons.

If you get the chance, check out the site and read their papers. Well worth your time. Also, check their references, as that is also a huge wealth of articles.

Environmental Biology of Fishes

Click on the "Forthcoming Papers" link, and read the papers about steelhead.

Anyone else want to cite some good reads? We could all benefit from these readings.

The study by McLean is some really exciting stuff--- she spoke at a WSC meeting last year---- sounds like they have another student lined up to carry on the study.

Some really juicy stuff, Parker. To add to one of your points, I've read studies that latitude of river system has effects on % repeat spawners in a given population as well. For example, some rivers in the northern Great Lakes region might have repeat rates approaching 35%. Similar trends (but less in magnitude) have been mentioned in the PacNW as well, but I can't remember which study I found that.

O mykiss is an interesting critter regardless of how you approach him.
