I'm planning on heading up to drift the lower section from just above the salmon down to 101. Does anybody have any late breaking advice or info on obstacles to be aware of?

Thanks

I wouldn't go all the way to 101!

If you could possibly negotiate all of the masses of gillnet floats down there I'm not sure the tribe would let you pull out on the res. beer

You might just find yourself being gillnetted. I've heard their pretty indiscriminate down there.

One trip with my dad and brother. We caught a combined 9 fish in about 5 hours drifting in a boat. One king salmon 30lbs, and the best of the rest (all wild steelhead we let go) was above 20 lbs and took 30 minutes and three people to land! eek thumbs I guess we were further upstream than you are proposing. Hope you get this before you go.

It's a pretty easy drift. But like stated before, I'd take out @ the clearwater bridge. It shortens the drift quite a bit but there are so many spots to target between Hartzell and the bridge that you could spend all day on that short drift. There's a spot below the salmon that splits into two. We've been taking the right hand side and have been merging up with the mainstem just fine. Not sure what's on the left.

Thanks for the Info.

Thanks for straightening me out on floating to 101. I thought that was where most people took out.

Does anybody know if you can get to the campground on the Queets? Is the bridge still out?

i fished up that way on sunday for a few hours, then decided to go exploring up the queets to the campground and the upper quinault...i can't confirm or deny any logs across the whole river but there were a few trailers parked at the boat launches

The campground down float is a NO!! I made that float the other day. BAD Log jam. lucky we had 2 boats and 4 guys. we had to drag the boats 3/4 mile!! the river has cut a new path and we had to use the old river bed to drag the boats. After all that draging I need to re- apply the Coat- It !! fishing also very slow. must have been all the nets in the lower river. I won't be doing that float again untill I know that jog jam is GONE!! I am still feeling that long drag!!!! beathead

So is Streeter's down open? or is the log jamb below that?

DC--So where abouts is that log jam, how far below the campground? Is it above or below the old Quinn Homestead, IYK? TIA, Mark
