I personally have bought several things alot cheaper on EBay. laugh

Last week I got a NEW Curado 200 6:2 for $103.00. Shipping and Insurance included with "Buy It Now" option. That's cheaper than wholesale thru my account.

Hint: If you REALLY want the item, wait until the last 2 to 3 mins to bid. keep clicking REFRESH to check the time and other bids. hello

Always check or ask about shipping first.
If the shipping seems alittle high, ask.
I've had sellers adjust it because I asked thumbs

Good Luck Bidding!

Ah, America's National Garage sale. My favorite way of getting rid of second hand items. smile

Ebay is a great place to buy new and used fishing equip. I have saved hundreds by shopping there. Just be careful not to get into a bidding war with somebody and pay just as much as you would if were to go into the store and make sure you know what the selling is charging for shipping.

Whoa! I gotta' watch it when I go E-baying! Now I think I know how a woman feels when she takes her VISA gold card to a department store sale. I bought two brand new fly reels I don't really need just because they were at wholesale price. Apparently people buy the inventory for a song of stores that go out of business and then gradually sell it off on E-bay. It's a great deal. Just got a new ultra-light backpack the other day, too. I need another store room or bigger garage. Or hide my credit card!

Another way to buy something you really want, is to look for stuff closing at bizarre hours, say 1 am. I will then bid just before bed, and I often win without the hassle of sitting at the computer.

Also there are progams that can do it for you if you leave your computer running during the close.

I love eBay! I also love local shops and do buy what I can from them... Like the Sage I just bought from Sparkey.

eBay is a great way to get expensive items for much less than retail. Last week I bought a 3wt Teton fly reel and extra spool for $120- the reel alone is worth almost $200.

Here's how I bid...

1) Never, ever bid on something more than a couple hours, preferably a few minutes, before the auction is about to end. All that you accomplish by bidding early is that you add to the hype and attention to that particular item which will lead to more bids! Plus, I find if you rebid often you develop auction fever where you're willing to do whatever it takes to win instead objectively looking at the price.

2) When you find something you want to bid on, hit the "watch this item" icon. That way the item will show up in your "my eBay" area and you can watch the progression of many items, not just what you've bid on.

Those are some good tips. I've been using those methods for a few years on there and saving a lot of money. Gotta love EBAY!!!!

another thing thats cool about it is sometimes the seller might have alot more than one and you can make better deals on the side and if you need any squids or flashers for the salt there is no better place

I'm on ebay quite a bit, but just recently started purchasing my tackle and gear there.

I picked up a Shimano Spheros spinning reel for $40 the other day, that much cheaper than retail anywhere.

Best thing is selling on ebay. It opens your eyes to what people will pay for items you have NO need for. Like golf shirts. Find a hot item and ride it out. I sold my old Jordan nike shoes for $185!

Have you seen the downloads like Bid Tamer, that time your bid to be placed right as the auction ends. They are getting more popular, and it takes away those late nights of waiting as the auction ends, or prevents it from totally slipping your mind.

I also check "View Seller Other Items"
Sometimes some good stuff gets missed-listed, therefore not many people know it's there to bid on laugh

Wooly Worm's advise is well worth considering.
Late night endings.
Remember east coast and west coast time differances thumbs

Maybe BOB will put some fishing trips on EBay??? laugh laugh

I buy and sell on eBay frequently. It has it's pros and cons, I have only been burnt on a deal once due to a small business's bancruptcy. I really like the convenience of shopping around for things and pricing items out. Always look to see how cheaply things are going for brand new on the web!

I sell really sweet custom pool cues in case any of you are interested!

Be careful, Ebay addiction can go TOO FAR! eek
I made my first ebay buy this Christmas and it was great, got a deal on a mini hog for my niece and nephew. I often look at Steelheader69\'s listings cause he's one of us.
