I know they were going to/are going to vote on switching the bucketmouth season from May/June to August/Sept--what ever became of that? Did it not pass muster, or get voted down, or is it still to be determined? I've poked around the WDFW site and various boards but found nothing of note...

It concerns me, because that season fills an otherwise blank spot in my fishing slate, and I REALLY have other places to be in August.

Please, if you're in the know, drop me a jig...

Thanks!

I don't think it made it through, because it is not mentioned in any of the early announcements from WDFW.

I hope it didn't get approved. Not only is August and September already full of opportunity what with the summer runs and crabbing, but I can see a lot of fishermen that are already on the water thinking, what the h__l, let's go bag a Ling now that we have our limits of salmon/crab. Think of all the new rockfish by-catch and mortality this would include.

I think the May/June season restricts the number of people targeting them, and hence protects this particular threatened resource. It also gives me an excuse to go spend Memorial Day weekend camping on Stuart Island laugh

It made the list of final proposals. Check the wdfw site for the list of reg changes that are still up for review. 2004 reg proposals
