The 2004 Sekiu Blackmouth Derby is in the record books and my friend and fellow PSA SnoKing board member, Slabquest, is the big winner. The Great and Powerful Slab beat us all with his 18.61# blackmouth. I'll let the man himself embellish on the feat when he gets home.

The good news is that PSA SnoKing was there in force and one of us won. I even got Chris Mohr to announce that the winner came from Puget Sound Anglers....The bad news is that we will hear about this for some time...Slab is definitely now in the BFE club...you'll have to figure out what that stands for....

The crowd will be chanting ..It's ALL about SLAB!/.//

Overall, the fishing was slow. We had very nice weather.

I would sum up the secret of my 1st place finish with two words: lucky....lucky..

I felt that I was fishing effectively, but I think 90% of Sekiu anglers fish effectively as well.

I was trolling a green glo hot spot and special hootchie in 120' near the bottom off Mussolini rock.

Nice work SlabQuest! I love fishing the "Rock"! Great area, kicks out some nice fish. Congrats, it's nice seeing one our PP board members winning a big derby. The big question now is, what are you going to do with the $$$$. That might buy a new rod/reel or two.

Again, nice fish!

Congrats, Slab, me and my buddy Tim were out there, I briefly hooked a big one, probably that one rolleyes , at Little Mussolini at first light, but after that only managed a few shakers and a small one that I threw back hoping for something bigger. Tim caught an 8 pounder mid-day but that one wasn't close to the money - looked like most people had one at least that size. About 4 or so at the Slip Point can he hooked another that ripped the line out of the release and ran it around my wire before he could pick the rod up, that one got crackered off too. All in all it looked like about a fish a boat on Saturday to me.

On Sunday it was real slow as all you slickers pretty much honed them off on Saturday, we got zip and the checker had about 10 fish for 30 boats at the launch.

I didn't try Disco this year, anybody?
