Thanks to a reader on this board who emailed me, he had an interesting idea of what to do with those extra worm bits you're left with after rigging up the Wormie.

Think these "Worm Jigs" would work?

Wouldn't that be cool if they did work? You wouldn't need to waste that last little bit of worm!

I bet Bob would sell you a bunch, CHEAP! wink

No problem wink

Actually I was thinking of using them on a leader like a Corky but I like your idea much better. Those things would be great for swimming a jig for Humpies especially. Would be interesting to see how they work for Steelhead under a float also.

Hey, no problem, Davd. Yeah, I was thinking that if anything, they'd work for humpies. Heck, anything pink and looking jig-like would work for a humpoid. I think that is a given.

Think that would fool a steelie?

In my opinion I would think they would be great for both hatchery brats and the nates in cold water conditions when the visibility is good to great. They are almost like the Tube jigs the guys back in the Midwest use. Hawk is probably our resident expert on this method. wink

In my own neck of the woods I would love to try them on the Sky for those spooky summer runs.

During the summer months on the Snoqualmie I have more then once seen hatchery fish in low water conditions move to the side or back down river from a pulsating marabou jig. I would love to see how these work in that same hole.

Now ya tell me after I just through all the tops away. Oh well I have a couple hundred worms left in my stock needing some leaders. laugh

Nates love the pink worm on a jighead. I like the new pink heads from Rainbow Jigs. I've used them with up to three or four inches dangling of the hook. Big bucks love them.

A CRAPPIE would not eat that... no action. Might as well throw a hunk of double bubble... Hey, come to think of it maybe Bazooka Joe could catch fish as well... Or maybe a hotdog on a hook... or maybe a hook on a beer cap.. or whatever...

Let us know how that works ???

Just kidding... but that still looks like a loser rolleyes

Kinda agree with B-Run... If you paint the head say black, to give it "contrast" it may work.

Try threading some yarn through the worm right below the jighead kinda like a rag. It would look like the worm had wings... confused

They'll work. To add contrast simply thread them on to a smaller white or purple jig and use in low, clear water.

I'd want to add something like a chunk of yarn tied in an overhand knot right behind the head of the jig. Would also help hold the worm chunk tightly to the hook. beer

Been trying/using them for about 4 years on the Great Lakes rivers. You are wasting your time, they just don't work! Especially in lower clearer flows. I wouldn't even try them with a single wrap of white spey hackle, marabou, or schlappen on the neck of the jig. That won't work either. Save your time and don't even try them. wink wink

My problem is I keep trying the pink worm and I can't catch a fish with it... I am going to keep trying but I guess I just am not doing it right
