I recently posted a question on these motors and wanted to update everyone now that my motor is here ... I went with the Nissan 9.8 4stroke long shaft ...I am very impressed with the motor so far. The noise level at idle is virtually nonexistant , so much so that I actually could not tell that the motor was running from the rowing seat ,when running at half throttle (thats about where my boat reaches it's hull speed ) you can carry on a conversation without having to raise our voice. everything is smooth and works perfectly. The motor starts on the first pull without fail when it is warmed up , two pulls when you first put it in the water . The fuel consumption is amazing to say the least , I took my boys and put a couple of hours run time on it Monday up at Galesville resevoir trolling around at idle for about an hour and just running around the lake at half throttle for another hour and used about a 1/2 gallon of fuel . The final price for this motor was $1770 . I think I went the right path with this purchase , and I have enough money left over that I can buy a couple of new rods and reels laugh If anyone has any specific questions about the motor feel free to ask ....Thanks for all the advice .. I'll be breaking in my new Nissan 6 HP 4-stroke this Thursday and Friday. Hopefully mine will work as well as yours.
