I did a search and found some info on the various drifts on the Hoh. Here is what Bob had to say "Top to bottom launches are:

Park Line, Spruce Creeki, High Water Marker, Coon's Bar, Morgan's, Minnie's, Oxbow, Allen's, Hoh Store, Cottonwood, Nolan Creek, and Barlow's.

There are slightly technical spots above Oxbow and above Coon's Bar ... but both pretty easy for an oarsman of meidum and above experience. There are loads of braids and jams below nowadays ... nothing impassible that I'm aware of, but as always in these areas, stay on your toes. Lots of loose trees alog the banks and a sweeper could be in place at any time."

Would anybody be willing to state the level of difficulty with each of the drifts? Does anybody know of any sweepers or other problems on any of the drifts?

Thanks in advance.

Twig,
Generally on the Hoh the lower you go the easier the drift. The main thing with the HOH is that its course can change dramatically after a high water. There usually isn't too much of a problem from Hwy 101 down and there are usually enough boats that if you don't know a spot you can wait for another boat to show you a "trail"

I would say that a great float for a first time Hoh trip would be Allen's bar to Nolan Creek. I have floated this streatch many times, and while the river does change, there no real significant hazards. As always, you want to keep your eyes out for sweepers and other obsticles.

Good Luck!

right now nolan creek is the only place to take out at I hear they are finally punching a take out at barlow but it is not ready yet!!! The road to G&L is washed out! also below cottonwood where the big tree was down in the corner after the frog stretch the river splits in three braids you want to stay in the middle braid or your in for trouble just a heads up!!

Oxbow is a little knarlier this year. Below Cottonwood the center braid is the best go to right of the big stump. Over about 1500cfs you can do the right braid but you need to go through 2 narrow chutes. Boy that lower river has changed it's really spread out.
