Anyone ever try this? Been trying to figure out a way to take one vehicle and all my kids fishing and camping...So we were at the RV show and I saw one of those "ToyHaulers" light goes on and I'm thinking about building a removable tounge for the boat trailer, build a sturdy front wheel assembly that would pin on in place of the hitch and an electric winch to pull the boat into the trailer. Get to the fishing place pull the boat out, park the trailer put the tounge back on the trailer & go fishing...

Is this crazy talk?

Thanks,

Sounds like a hassle to me. Have you thought about a camper?

I've got a camper, it's not big enough...this is the reason that I'm looking for alternatives. The cool thing about the toy hauler is the huge amount of space inside when you get the haulee out of it. The ramp locks up level with the floor and you can cover it for a screened porch adding 8 feet to the living area. The other feature that I liked was that my truck could have the canopy on it and when I got to the camping spot, the truck is ready to go right away. No camper to drop, and no camper to hinder tough take-outs & such. Some are hard enough without a camper.

More people are doing what you are talking about, only side note you may not get into many off road locations very well, by the time you buy one that is large enough to live in and hall all the toys plus the boat,

as far as the boat, just cut off the hard plastic wheel on the tounge jack and replace it with a small pnuematic tire, I plan doing the very same thing this summer to my cargo trailer as it gets dropped for hunting in the dirt and it don't roll very well at that point, there is a small tire and wheel place on 4th ave In Seattle that has hundreds of tires, there name escapes me at the moment they are a few blocks south of the stadium on the left, I bought some for a small generatore that needed to be mobile in rough conditions years ago.

Bud.
