How many days a year do you spend fishing and shellfishing total? I am curious.

Not enough:)! The wife really likes to "catch" fish, so she only goes when it's good (August/September) for kings and silvers, but I'd have to guess my boat is in the water 80 days a year.

A: Not nearly enough. Between running my business, having a new house with a mile-long honey-do list, and all the other crap going on, I'm luck to have fit in 14 days on the water last year.
These are full days, right? I've had a more than a few where I do a few casts off the Edmonds Pier after work, but those don't really count.

I'd have to guess 75. A poll here probably would be interesting. 1-50 days, 50-100,100-150, 150+

70 - 80 fishing days before buying a house and getting married. 35 - 40 fishing days since buying a house and getting married. BD

Only about 30-40 days and shrinking. Wife's new business. Send all your wives to Snohomish to look for a shop called Inside Out.(She needs to make more money so I can fish more)

Dang! Some of you fish a lot!
With 52 weeks in the year, you have to fish both days of every weekend to hit 100 days (or take some long vacations and fish every day).
I'd say that I fished 30-40 days last year - probably closer to 30.

Not enough. Too busy saving eyeballs.
Did get a chance to briefly meet TRBO at the Pay-n-Save last Fri am before hitting the Calawah with a buddy that flew down from Alaska. Also fished the Sol Duc on Sat. We encountered fish, all natives except one. No big ones though. Hoping for one of those big pigs, but never got a one over 5-6 pounds.

If you don't keep a log it's really hard to be sure. I do keep a log and before I added up all the days in one of my busier years I guessed the answer was about 180. Actual count was only 112. I find I do less each year. Last year was only 85.

200+ for the past 7 years..... and NOT a guide!!! Not full days, either!!!!! Well..........1st you have to know I'm retired....then you have to understand I live in Grays Harbor County then that I live in Central Park.......with that understanding.....many times I fish 2 or 3 times a day.....sometimes 2 or 3 rivers in the same day. Jan-April-----Winter Run and late coho April-May---Springers, haven't done good on these yet. June-September---Summer run Oct-Dec----jacks and silvers, throw in a few late summer run or early winter run. Used to fish jacks in August and September but WDF in their strange ways has decided to keep the Chehalis closed, so they can have the 28th Street to Westport open for "the higher up's in WDF" who like to fish that area. I only have Jan and Feb off. the rest of the 10 months I work 14-18hr days, 7 days per week. In those 2 months I have off, get in about 50 days on the flow.

The last time I religiously kept a log was back in college...I fished 96 days per year, on an average over those five years.
I'd say now it runs more like three to six days per month, so more like 50 or 60, I'd guess, maybe more because in the summer I can fish in the afternoons, or early mornings, more often than I can this time of year.
Fish on...
Todd

I'm guessing about 280-290 with my vacation time. Barring any major weather changes, it'll be 27 of 29 days this month alone Glad to hear you found some fisheys FnP ... we ended up hooking one and missing another on Friday on the bugrod in there with you. Same fellas Sat. hooked a pair and managed a first-ever flyrod steelie of about 10 pounds or so on Sat. in the 'Duc. Do I get extra credit for all my double (and even a triple) trip in my AK silver season??

About 45 days per year. Haven't been out much this year (only twice) but did fish the Duc for 11 hours on Saturday and did manage a SRC. I can't wait to fish those long days for summeruns. Need to try blackmouth soon and probably some springer fishing. I spent a lot of time fishing for salmon last fall too. Salmon fishing is usually a short trip. Maybe go out to the point for a few hours in the summer. Also did some crabbing and some razor clam digging. Even did a little deep sea fishing before Christmas.

I'm probably down to about 30 days a year. Golf is getting in the way.

I've got 27 days in so far this year. Mostly river fishing this time of year but if the rivers are chunked and the salt is calm I move out to the bay. Quit my job three years ago to pursue fishing so I try to put a good effort to be out there 3-4 days a week. Obviously my bride is quite understanding since I do not bring in any income while fishing.

I get just a few "full" days (dawn to dark) to fish, but since we bought this house I would guess the average would be 3-4 days a week at 3-4 hrs. a shot.
Don't keep a log, but have been giving it serious consideration. Water conditions, level, etc. seem to play a big part in when these fish hit, and don't.
Most of this started when I found this website...the addiction worsened once I got a hook in one and felt that Steelhead "KWAN"!
And believe me, it IS an addiction. (Just ask my wife)
Please, tell all your friends to "Say no to Steelhead".

I do not keep a log but I do fish 3-4 days during the weekdays ( per river conditions) the past 6-7 years, 1 or 2 of those days are a full-day 6+ hrs, 1 maybe 2 days a month with you weekend-warriors(if the wife and boys activities permit) and a guaranteed day w/father-in-law if he's not fishing clients. I'm so blessed that my employees' do not fish!!

If you include all the days I spend with Jimmy Houston,Spanish fly,Walker Cay Chronicles, etc throw in my marlin fishing game, and I am good for about 275 per year of fishing or watching or wishing I was fishing. Actual days on the river, salt 2002- 139 full days,2003 125 full days. Semi retired thru Disablity,Wife hates me anyway so she does not care if I am gone,no kids, good transportation and $$ is available to go alot so Why not..
