Does anyone own one of these reels? I would like to hear what you think of it. I am trying to decide between the Prodigy, Pflueger Trion & the Shimano Curado. Thank in advance.

I own a Curado and a Curado BSF. If you go for one of these reels, I highly recommend spending the extra $30 and getting the BSF model.

I used to fish a Curado. Great real but it wasn't the SF model. I prefer the gear feel of the Calcutta but they're much different reels.

Three weeks ago I purchased a Pflueger Trion and all I can say is jumpinjahosephatsyeehaw!!! I will definately be purchasing more Trion's based on value. The feel is relatively similar to the Curado but the reel is much less expensive and works great.

I own a curado and love it. Have not had one problem with it.On the other hand my next purchase will be a pflueger trion low profile. It is a heavier reel than a curado but I have been hearing nothing but great things about the trion. Have'nt heard any feedback on the prodigy.I am curious also on how good of a reel it is.Fish On!!!!!! smile

Does the trion come in a left-handed model? Being right-handed, I need my right arm to hold the rod because the fish I catch are so big. wink

Yeah it comes both. My dad bought a Trion at the Puyallup show and really liked it until he fished low water. With less than an inch of lead, he thought it was too "squirly" and got more birdsnests than he ever did with his old Shimano Bantam 200. He's going to switch it with his Curado on his float rod.

Get the Curado BSF. I own 4 of them. I couldn't imagine using anything else.

Have a Ambassadeur 6500C3 and the Pfleuger Trion...never had the Curado.

Bought the Trion to go with the 10' Cert. Pro. Lami...what a combination!

Casts spoons/plugs like dream...but the rod is rated a 1/4 oz - 5/8 oz., and anything under 1/4 oz. doesn't properly load the rod and a HUGE backlash in soon in the works. Once the weight reaches 1/4 oz. its superb.

The Trion comes in both left and right hand models...but sadly the Pfleuger President (the next model up in Pfleuger baitcasting reels for 2004) only comes in a RH model at this time..I got to have a LH. The President is smoother than the Trion, if you can believe this possible.

My other problem with the Trion is anytime I try to cast a jig/float or float/worm combination...it's backlash city every time, no matter the weight. Most likely my lack of experience and thumb control...so I'll stick with the Inspira spinning reel for jigging and worming.

Sold my super free and got the japenese version (scorpion 1000) no comparison. While the reel is smaller and holds less line this thing is flat out awesome. The curados are very smooth and trouble free in my opinion but for what they cost and how much plastic parts are on the reel it kind of sucks. Mike I see you are probably usind izor high vis. If you swich to izor
green which is limper and some of the sweetest casting line out there I bet your backlash problem will decrease quite a bit.

I too went to a line that was more limp and the backlash issue with light lead tamed down considerably. I went from Climax Cameleon to Ultra Green which is kind of like going from steel cable to nylon rope.

I absolutely love my trion. 99 bucks is dirt cheap for such a smooth and durable reel. landed hundreds of fish with it and the drag is still super smooth. Curado's are great as well but I'd definitely go with a trion due to its value.
