I have next week off and would like to track down some BM if their are any still being caught. I usually fish Camano Head area but also run out to PnP. I was also pondering a run out to Sekiu but haven't heard much from that area lately. Any opinions?

Several friends fished Port Townsend over the weekend and said it was "completely devoid of life". If it were me I would go to Sekiu or Port Angeles.

You might check out Salmon University website and see what they have to say. I fished SE Hat, Racetrack and up around Elger Bay/close by points of land last Sunday and didn't get anything.

Marine Area 7 has been hot and probably the best choice.

Haven't heard much of anything being caught unless you want to travel south to MA 13.

MA 11... Another spot worth a go is Quartermaster Harbor or even the grain elevator down near the flats.

If it were me going this coming week, I would head for the Winter Hole and Humps area off Port Angeles. That area has been red hot the past week and usually is this time of year. Both these areas are about 3 to 5 miles off the tip of Ediz Hook heading west towards Seiku. Haven't heard much about it but Middle Bank and/or Hein Bank may also be heating up.

8-2 has been spotty of late. There are still some nice fish being caught(12lbs+) but they are the exception as most of the fish have been on the thin side. There has been a definate lack of bait in most areas this year. March is probably the best time to fish the underwater banks in the straits as mentioned above.(if you have a boat big enough) During the end of march time frame the area between kingston and pt. no pt. can be a good place to intercept some of those early returning south sound kings. Good luck!

What is going on everyone? I had best BM season so far at area8-2 near hat Island. Feb. 15th I had one nice 8lb and few nice shakers from 2-5pm. And Last Sunday I fished from 8-12pm I got total of five hits. But I missed four and finally caught 9lb. One that I fought earlier was at least 10lb or more. It was amazing fight and fish got away when it came on the surface, damn! Anyway, lots of fishes are out there, so go and try. I usaylly use herring and aim 100' down at the bottom.
Good Luck, everyone.

Elkrun, I was simply going on what was told to me by some friends who fished out there in the past week. I believed them since I've generally done very well in those area's this time of year.

Not trying to protect anything....

I'm coaching right now and wont have time to fish until May anyway, so not much point in puttin up a smoke screen! I could care less if theres 10 boats or 1000. I just hadn't gotten many good reports from friends who have been out. There have been one or two good trips for them. Then the next day there will be nothing. Knock your selves out!

Jerry's right though... no false information here, I did hear that the warm currents are expected to move in right before salmon season starts out in area 4.... predicting the worst season ever! I'd avoid it if I were you!
