Purchasing a 10'6" Elite rated 4-8# (float fishing)..... Any feedback? Does All Star still have an over-the-counter policy for returns? I know SUperfly can answer this one.......

Great Rods!

My most recent rod purchase was a ESH1203 for Float Fishing. It catches fish just fine!

Yes as I understand it, and was sold on. You break-it just take it back and they hand you a new one.

I too have the 10'-6" 8 -12 # so far so good, I just wish I would have waited until the Monroe Show $70 shure beats $120!

Why a moose? Who knows!

Last year I purchased an All-Star rod for trout and sockeye. It's an 8' 2-6lb. test that has some backbone. It's fought up to 7lb. trout with no disappointments. I've found it to do well casting for cutthroat in the saltwater estuaries.

I have 12 Allstar rods total. Thier warranty is great. I took one that got sat on to Sportsman's and they traded me no questions asked!

I shipped a couple that got onto an accident with some stream side brush. I sent them back to the factory and they replaced them free of charge. It just cost my 15 bucks for shipping.

You cant go wrong with an Allstar in my opinion.

Just bought our first All Star rod...a 9'6" 8-12 med. action for my wife.

Feels great to me, but her Okuma Epixor 40 is waaayyy too heavy for the rod...looking to put a Pfleuger Trion spinning reel on it and then we'll see how it does.

Can't beat the warranty!

What???? No negatives, comments about Allstar????

Oh 4Salt, where are you? You are letting your guard down! \:D

To answer the question, I've never broken an Allstar Elite rod, so I've never had to use their warranty service.

I've spoken with the crew at Allstar many times, and I know they would easily replace any rod of mine that either broke, or becomes defective.

Personally, aside from getting TH to make you custom rod, the Allstar Elite is a great rod of choice, at a super great price. I love my Allstars, and they have been great rods.

The only negative comment I have is they are not readily available here in Oregon? I think they are a good rod and would probably buy more of them but where do you get them down here?
Believe me I've looked too! Sportsman's has a token selection at the Portland store.

When I first went to buy an AllStar, the guy at Ted's said don't do it, they had way too many come back broken and were going to quit selling them.

But I figured with the over ther counter return policy I couldn't go too wrong and bought one from Outdoor Emporium.

Well, I broke my AllStar 10' 6" float rod making a cast. I couldn't believe it just a casual pitch and it snapped in two.

Tried to do the over the counter thing and the store was out of that model and they were back ordered at the factory. After a month and a half of waiting I just returned it for store credit and upgraded to a lamiglas certified pro.

Never had one of my lamiglas rods break like that.

Nah! I just figured that I've said my peace about Allstars enough already.

I like the feel of Allstars, that's why I bought my first one. After breaking 3 of them under VERY light duty (I've NEVER broken a Lami, Loomis or even a Berkley AIR) my confidence in them is shot, that's all.

The over-the-counter warranty has been OK so far. I had 2 (1141s, 1143c) replaced by Ted's before they discontinued carrying them. Like Bossman, I tried to get a replacement for an 1143c at OE. They didn't have one so I waited about a month then finally decided to try a 1 piece plug rod (901). The other models always broke at the ferrule, so I figured a 1 piece might hold up a little better. So far, so good.

It's never been my intention to try to steer people away from buying Allstars, just to let them know about potential problems they may be facing. \:\)

Well, I went ahead and made the purchase. Unfortunately, I felt like I was stepping down quite a bit by fishing the all star as compared to my cert. pro. No where near the sensitivity. However, I did manage to break it in with a 7 or so pound chromer that I lost at my feet and was happy with the rod's overall performance in the battle. For the money, I suppose they're good rods but in my mind it doesn't even hold a flame to my cert. pros...
Thanks for the advice folks
