Look into staying out of Ucluelet instead of tofino. It can be a lot cheaper that way and its only about 30 min drive to Tofino from there. I dont have any info on the fishing though.

We used to go at the end of July into mid August. Some real nice chinook fishing just up the coast from Ucluelet. Check out Islandwestresort for lodging, moorage etc.

I fished out of Weigh West (Tofino) last year in September and had a blast. Chinooks start in April according to them but i can't vouch for that I didn't fish that time of year. Later on in July and August the fishing can get red hot from the experience I've had on West Vancouver Island, but will continue all the way through the end of September. The silvers start running later in the year so a September fishery will yeild good numbers of both Chinook and Coho around that area. I think late July through September you'll find most lodges will be booked fairly quickly so jump on it sooner than later if you want to go.

We limited fairly quickly when we went out. One cool thing about the packages at Weigh West was that loding was nice but the food was great. With the package deals you can order whatever you want on the menu as many as you want and multiple different items if that's what makes you happy; it's all inlcuded in the package.

I very highly recomend Bob Kimoto as a guide. He's the lead gear fishing guide for the lodge and very knowledgable.

Go here to take a look -> Weigh West Marine

Tofino has a lot of sheltered water to fish as opposed to the open ocean at Uclulet. There are not as many motel type accomodations in Tofino as in Uclulet, but there are more bed & breakfests. If you want to break the bank, book the Wickinnish Inn. It's about half way between the 2 towns. Regardless of where you stay be sure to eat at the Pointe resturant at Wickinnish. It has the best eats and view, by far, on the westside. 2 years ago a lady friend and I went to Tofino in mid August. We rented a kayak and fished from it. Lots of fun when you get a 30 pounder pulling you around.

Call weigh-west. They took great care of us and it was a blast!

But if you want to catch Kings til your arms fall off, go to the Nushagak or Kasilof in Alaska. I did the Nush last July and it was beyond belief.

Call Bob at weigh west and get signed up. We started with a group of three 2 years ago and this year we will be headed up there with 9 guys. We catch the early season (late may) and have a great time. We fish off shore a few miles, but you are fishing 25 minutes after leaving the dock. Get their all inclusive package and with 3 guys per room it is a pretty good deal. Make sure you eat like a pig with your meals at the pub, and if you don't try the halibut and chips, well ya just don't deserve to be there.
The fishing is in more sheltered waters later in the summer, but our guys have a hard time getting our schedules lined up for later in the year, so don't think you have to hit peak season to catch fish!
