Has anyone fished for salmon with the Hawk II boat out of Westport? If so, what was your overall experience? I am considering chartering with them.

Thanks

Z-Fish give me a day or two and I'll find out for you Hawk II is morred 2 floats over from where our store is. Busy day comming up 3-16 opening day of lingcod, most of the charter boats will be bottom fishing. I don't know what time I'll close up tomorow and might go smelt dipping afterwards. SOOOO like I said give me a day or so I will get back to you.

Brian Mirante of the Sea Angel or Steve Westrick of the Hula Girl are both good folks. Both boats are run out of the Westport/Washington Charters office. Tell them Andy the banker sent you.

Don't know the Hawk II skipper, but I can vouch for the two guys above. Later in the summer, Kevin Vasserino of the Gold Rush is a great guy as well for salmon and bottom fish, same charter office.

1 I would recommend staying away from is the Silver Duchess (Neptune Charters) I don't know if the capt. (Dennis) was just having a bad day or just what his problem was, but he seemed to have very little patience for the 3 or 4 kids (10-12 yrs. old) that were fishing on his boat the day I fished with him, they made a couple of "minor" rookie mistakes and he jumped all over them, also watched him yank a rod out of a guys hand that didn't get out of the way of another guy fighting (a small silver) fast enough for him.
He just didn't come across as being very "professional" too me.

The Hawk II was sold or is still up for sale, if the skipper is a male not sold and not recomended, if it is a female skipper than the boat has been sold and (Engra) hope that is the spelling will spend the extra time to get you into fish would recomend her. Go to there Web site should let you know. We support Westport Charters Kevin Marks skipper of the Tally Ho owns half of the store I run. Any of the Westport Charter boats are excellent. Hope this helps you.

I plan on going with Geoff Grillo with advantage charters again this year. I would highly reccomend him. Great guy to fish with. Good at finding fish and always an enjoyable experience on his boat. Goes between Neah bay and Westport. Check out his website

I would have to give Capt. Kevin of the Gold Rush a great big thumbs up. He is a school teacher durring the rest of the year and is a great teacher on the water too. I brought home over 100 lbs of fresh tuna fillets when I went with him in late August, will return when I get all my tuna ate. This is the only charter that I have been on though, and the only one I will ever go on again.

Not that I am aware of. He starts fishing bottomfish when it opens in March and goes all the way through to the end of tuna season in October.
