The family and I are going camping at Cascade Peaks campground on the Cowlitz, and I hope to do some fishing as well, will there be any stealhead up that far at that time..

Where's that at. If it's below the barrier dam you'll have a shot at both springers and steelhead.

the campground is located at 11519 Hwy 12 which should be 8 miles E of Randle 7 miles W of Packwood . And sorry posting again ,

The best fishing will be the stretch of river below the dam at lake scanewa to the 108 bridge at riffe lake for kokanee. Take some spinners and some shrimp tails.

I'm afraid you won't be able to do any steelhead fishing up there.

bgreen, that is above all three dams on the Cowlitz. Best you'll hope for is cuttthroat, etc. No Salmon or Steelhead. I'd check the regs. I'm not familiar with that stretch. My Uncle had a 300 acre farm near there when I was a youngster. I wish it was still in the family.
