I really haven't ventured too far away yet to go fishing. I just purchased a pontoon boat this winter and am curious about rivers on the Olympic Peninsula. I am mainly concerned about the safety of the drift. Does anyone have suggestions of a good river to float with my pontoon? Thanks for the help.

Try the Hoh-lower parts would be fine. The only caution is if your fishing from your pontoon and you hook into a pig springer, you might get to the take out sooner than you planned. be safe have fun. go with a bud

Speaking of Springers...when does the Hoh start showing up with them?

In reference to the title "Float fishing OP with a pontoon boat"...

Seems a little extreme to me. How would you know when you had a strike? I think I'll stick to my 5" long foam floats. They seem to work just fine for me. ;P

Good advice from coho ... fishing with a bud. Although they are more mobile than a drifter, they have some limitations by being smaller. 'Toons will stall out on some big rollers and flip ass over teakettle on you if you don't know what it can handle.

Play it safe, and maybe this summer when it's warm, stip it of (expensive) gear (perhaps put some rocks in bags and such so it will be loaded like you're using it) and get a good life jacket on and go hit some rougher water to see what it can handle. It was something I did with mine and was glad I did!
