That is a dandy! Whew! I only had my hands on one remarkable fish this year, thanks to my buddy Ray (Winterun) that is. A wild hen taped out at 39x19. My buddy was pulling plugs and called the strike down to the stroke of the oars. He said "Now we will swing the plug across the face of the root-wad and run it down the right side." He paused as the boat slid a couple feet, took one stroke for the plug to dig in, and said "theres your fish." The rod folded before he was finished with his sentence. The fish immediately rose to the surface and rolled. We both saw it at the same time- nickle bright and obviously large. I am just glad I didn't loose it after witnessing such grace. Thanks. I feel relieved. I have been dieing to tell that story. I have told it informally several times, but you have to be a steelheader to truly UNDERSTAND.

I wondered how long it would take for someone to whine about him holding that fish.

Thanks for the confidence there Eddie. Why would I bother posting a lie? Especially on someone else's thread?

No question there that is atleast a high 20's fish! Most likely it breaks the 30# mark!
Its easy to tell on that one just look at the size of the head/body and adapose compared to the hands.
Nice Fish!!!!!

Man, u guys should all get the story straight before u assume things! I talked to Karry in person for at least an hour about that fish two days ago and a few other 20lb. fish caught the same day and see him and my good friend (his cousin) Bill Batson almost everyday considering I build their blanks in the factory! That fish was only 43in and only 28lbs. and no that fish was not an Oregon fish, and no it was not on a fly. Karry frequently gets fish in the 20's. Its a Batson secret that I happen to know and some won't LoL! Yes, Baitcaster, they do build nice rods, the best in my opinion, also sent u a PM! Chris

Actually, that is a huge fish in my opinion, just not 30! Karry now has caught two fish that were 28lbs and several others in the 20's, they caught another couple of fish over 20 that day too, seen all the pics. The fish all came from the same river and i think even the same hole, including the other 28 he has caught! Chris

Most guys have never held a 30lb fish. They see pictures with guys holding fish that they claim are 30 pounds, and then pretty soon, every steelhead that is held out 10 feet from the fisherman's body for the photo, is automatically a 30 lb fish. That fish is realistically 25lbs. It truly is a beautiful fish and I'd be proud to catch-n-release him. However, it's not over 30lbs. (But really, does it matter?) I've caught Salmon that I swear were 45 pounds, and when I got them on the certified scale, they weighed in at just over 30. They don't call them fish stories for nothing.

I to was wondering how long it was going to take befor someone whined about that fish being held out of the water for a picture. ImGlad Oregon doesnt have that lame @$$ law. Rob, Why do always have to make comments like that? Just for you Rob, I will post some pictures next winter of bloody dead nates being held by thier gills out of the water . There are a few places you can still retain wild fish. I dont, but just for you I will
