I just got the go ahead to do a new, updated book on steelhead and salmon fishing with jigs. I need your help! If you have a hot technique that you are willing to share, please e mail me with the details. Any solid tips on tackle, rods, floats, whatever, I would love to hear from you. If you want your name mentioned, I will do so, if appropriate.

I also will need any tack sharp, awesome pictures you have that show jig fishing and or jig caught fish.

If you are a jig maker, or float maker feel free to send me samples or better yet, very sharp slides of your product. I plan to have photos of as many possible types of jigs as possible and photos of the entire selection form any manufacturers who want to be represented.

Dave - A week or so ago, a member of the IFish BB posted a terrific article on tieing your own jigs. The pictures really made the difference. The link is here:

http://www.ifish.net/forum/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=510349&page=6&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1

The IFish member was "Willow Drifter' and the pictures and descriptions provide a great tutorial on how to tie your own jigs. You might consider checking with Willow Drifter to see if his/her information is available for your new book. I certainly got alot out of the post.

Will there be any mention of bobber and worm fishing? You may attract a whole new tribe of young fishers that way.

Thanks grandpa. You can write it. But I can't promise I will use it. I was thinking of getting Al Sharpton to do it for me. He always has something funny to say.

Fun5Acres:

I have recently been accused of plagiarism, but nonetheless I may have to see if I can get Jeff Foxworthy let me use some of his lines.

You may be a bobber fisherman if you go to family reunions to find a woman.

You may be a bobber fisherman if your rod handles are all Pro Glow red

You may be a bobber fisherman if your waders are made from knee boots, rain pants and duct tape.

You may be a bobber fisherman if there are several active areas of growth on your hat.

Come on guys help me out here. Can you think of some others?

When I think of Jigs, I think of Pt. Wilson Darts, but then I'm from Port Townsend.

Don't suppose there is any room for that kind of jigging in the book. Maybe it wouldn't be a long enough chapter. \:\)

Keep the Foxworthy lines though, they hit home!

How about a section on guys with the nickname "Jigs"? That'd be interesting, or at least a picture of the one I knew would be.

You may be a bobber fisherman if your washing machine is kept on your front porch.

You may be a bobber fisherman if your house has wheels.

Sorry Grandpa, the back cover photo is of me and Dave at a topless bar in Surrey, B.C.

Hey Dave, any intention to add a section for making your own jigs? Seems like there is quite an interest in that area these days. Seems like within the last few years the variety of jigs has just grown so much.

RH:

Yes, there will be at least two fully illustratded (with photos) sections showing a couple of ways to make jigs. I will also have a section on salmon fishing with jigs (the feather and bead type) that is.

Would it be fair to say that one of the most popular combo's is the ol' Dink 'n' Pink?

Aunty: Won't Caveman take you fishing? I think you have waaaay too much time on your hands. I especially liked music on the Pen Bobber. I'm wondering if I could make two versions of the book. One called “Fishing With a Float and Jig” that features some good old rock and roll when you open the cover. The other to be titled “Bobber and Jig” fishing would have the music from Deliverance play when opened.
