Canyon Man graciously invited me to join his team for a day of springer fishing on the CR across from Cathlamet yesterday.
We anchored up to plunk Kwikfish. We basically fished an entire outgoing tide from top to bottom. The first pound-down came to Canyon Man's rod within the first hour. The rod was bucking wildly for several deep pumps, but the springer aborted its attack and decided to let go before pulling any line off the reel. Fish gone!
Here's the digital documentation:
We never got another strike the rest of the day. Similar story for most of the boats fishing around us. Meanwhile, nearby plunkers managed four fish to the bank. Guess I'll just have to wait a little longer before performing my first fillet-ectomy on my own CR springer.
Thanks again to Canyon Man for treating a fellow PP board member to a great time on the water. I learned a lot about a fishery that I previously had no real experience with. Like I've said before, this is a great board!
