Can I get live herring in Edmonds, or is it availabel at the "bait shop" across the sound at possession point? I'm not sure if the bait shop on possession point is still open.

Call Bud's bait in Edmonds. They usually have live herring in stock.

I've bought it live at bait shop in Edmonds marina before so should still be available unless something has changed.

The bait shop is still open, they just released 50K coho last week, and I suspect they have live herring now, but havn't been down there to look.

If you beach your boat and it looks closed, walk around a little to see if anyone is around.

Also, I think their phone number is on the packaging of the frozen stuff.

I seem to recall that the Bait Box shop at possession doesn't usually open till August or so. I'd call ahead and make sure. I've also bought live herring in season at Woody's Market in Mukilteo (accross the street from the ferry docks)

Just a note... Stopped by Woody's Market on the way out today. No live herring yet, but he did have a big tank full of live coonstripe shrimp for $6 a pound. We picked up some for bait on the way out. Didn't catch any ling, but did pick up a few decent sized flounder for dinner. Used some of the smaller flounder for bait, no luck with those either. Picked up a half pound of live shrimp on the way home to go with the flounder for dinner.

By the way, he also carries some basic tackle, including replacement downrigger cable, in case you find yourself in need of it while you're on the water.

I wish they'd put the floats in at the Mukilteo ramp already. It's never an easy to launch and retrieve there, but without the floats it's almost a herculean effort.
