June 1st marks the opening day for most rivers. What river will you most likely be fishing.

None! June 1st is a Tuesday this year and I gotta work. Plus, opening day madness on the Snohomish system just ain't worth the hassle, IMO.

I will be out there but I will be on a trib to the Snohomish system. I hope it is a good season this year. Opening day shouldnt be that bad due to the fact that it is a tuesday but the day I will not be on the river is the 16th. You will probalbly be able to walk across the boats on the SKy.

Got a good section of frog water that I know is holding some rainbows..other than that it'll be just spending time relaxing and watching the river flow by.

I'm surprised how many of you don't think you will have a successful season. Confidence is a big part of success!

Well....none. First of all I have to go to school on the first (why isn't the opener on a weekend like lakes?). I will however get out the fallowing weekend to the Cedar possibly, some hush, hush, ponds behind Duvall (if the gates are open), or some other fishing for dink trout with fly rod in hand.

The reason I think it will be another crappy season for hatchery fish is the Sky, Snoqualmie summerrun smolts are already gone , there was so much predation by otters mergansers, Blue Herons and commorants in the ponds that there was very few that survived, there are a lot of large holes in the nets over the ponds , and the otters have dug under the fence . easy pickins Regardless of what the hatchery says they planted I know better, I knew the fellow who used to raise the fish at Reitor until he got injured and couldn't work there any longer . Since he left they have brought up one of the people who works for the Wallace creek hatchery and talking to him he could care less whether or not there are holes in the nets. look at last year When did they open Reitor October? reason=no fish! two years in a row prior to last year they opened that area two weeks early = reason a lot of fish . Mark hasn't worked at Reitor for three years now and I don't expect there to be another good season on the Sky or Snoqualmie till they get some one up there that gives a dam and repair the nets . I wrote to the Dept. two years ago and asked when they were going to fix the net problems and was told that was sceduled to happen in the next two weeks But of course it didn't . Oh Well I hope I am wrong .

Anybody know the reason why the salmon season for the Sky opens on June 16, rather than June 1st? Curious.

Yes, the Skykomish opens for kings later because the state has to get a take permit for the kings from the Feds. since the wild ones in the river are protected. The permit was going to take those extra 16 days to get. They might not even have their permit by the June 16th deadline. In that case they would have to postpone the king opener. We'll see.....
