I was just cleaning up my kwikie boxes and couldn't help recalling the fish that i have caught on them. It seemed like i was always picking up the same one over and over again. I couldn't help but to wonder whatg everyone elses most prouctive kwikfihs colors are? Mine have to be the "fickle pickle", "california watermelon and the funky chicken. So what are your most productive kiwkie colors?

I'd have to say that the fickle pickle is my go-to color.

Any color will work so long as it's silver and chartreuse.

For my edification, what does "fickle pickle" look like? And how is a guy supposed to know these things? They don't print these names on the packaging do they (or am I really that un-observant?)

Look at the UPC label on the back of the box. Most will just have a physical description of the color scheme, but many have designated nicknames (oftentimes quite catchy, and popularly known by most die-hard Kwik-fans) picked out by Luhr Jensen.

I'll second the Fickle Pickle, but I have a non-standard one painted with a black butt instead of chartreuse.... I call it "Baby Got Back".... seven takedowns in a row backtrolling the Kenai on its maiden voyage last July. The other three plugs in our spread didn't stand a chance!

If you ask my wife, the only color to fish is what we call the "Purple Peril".... officially named "Gay Boy" by Luhr Jensen ( she doesn't like the LJ name hence the Purple Peril moniker).

Other great producers are "The Grinch".... "Measles" (chrome/red dots) .... "Funky Chicken"

I have two Kwikkies that have outfished all the other ones combined. They're both chrome with a chartreuse bill.

I have nightmares about losing those plugs.

chrome and chartreuse all the way I found the foxee fish lures in that color worked damn good this last springer season

Caught 'em on the pickle, the grinch, but mostly on one that is un-creatively named various abbreviations of green, chartruese, and silver - looks like a grinch with more green on the back. But, yeah, green and silver

CHROME AND GREEN IS IT!! NO MATTER WHAT NAME THEY PUT ON IT. BUT I WILL SAY THE GRINCH WITH TEETH MARKS ON IT WORKS WELL!!


P.S. IF ANY ONE HAS A CURRENT REPORT ON THE NORTH FORK OF THE LEWIS RIVER AND THE ICICLE RIVER . IM HEADING EAST THIS WEEKEND AND NEXT TO THE LEWIS

I would have to say whichever one is on the inside pole closest to the bank.... herring not needed. In 6 days of fishing on the Salmon river last week had 43 take downs all on the inside pole, any color seemed to work... Silver and green mostley but pink, orange, and yellow with spots all got hits as well. K-14 was best size, 8-10 feet of water, within 10 yards of bank. The trick seems to be finding the travel lane and its all good.
