Drove up to Camano at 4 am on Friday morning, set two pots for the wife and I at 7 am. Pulled nine keepers that afternoon. Not bad, but not good by past standards. In the old days, the opener would require culling your 12 best and limits would follow for days.

On Saturday it was bad and Sunday worse. Extreme tides and windy conditions(tornados in Stanwood) may have been a factor.

But the worse thing: Thieves. Our neighbor at Camano had his pot robbed both days. No crabs and bait was gone. Plus bait box was re-fastened in different spot in pot. His pot was moved too, according to his GPS. Shame too, he just had a five-way bypass nine weeks ago and was really excited about crabbing.

I went out Saturday afternoon, was working six pots, 10' to 100', multiple areas from Mukilteo to the flats off of Jetty Island, and I came home with 7 crab. Pathetic! Conditions were not perfect, but on the second day of the season the pots should of been full. It must be because us recreational dudes went over our allotment last year.

Could be Octopi sealing crabs. They are pretty tricky sometimes. Most likely humans however.

What the heck are you going to do with 92 crabs?

And we wonder why the crab season gets shorter and shorter ...

Hey finergrain.......nice response!!! I didn't kill 92, my party did!!!! Sorry, maybe you have a reading disability?

I didn't know that there was a law limiting the amount of crabs that a person could be involved in getting? Heck, I coulda said my group (the whole damn Camano St. Park) got 1200, but it was only my party of 8 people, for 2 days that I was involved with, so do the math!!! Maybe 12 crabs a piece for a weekend is to much for you.

I know... lets have everyone limited to 1 of everything! 1 clam, 1 crab, 1 shrimp, 1 salmon, 1 mushroom, 1 duck, 1 goose, etc...that way no one could ever do any harm!!!! I bet you quit fishing once you catch one salmon, because "what would you do with _#'s of salmon"?

seems like 92 is alot, but you really need to know the size of the group before rushing to judgement (30 people is only 3 each for the weekend). As long as you are legal and not wasting the resource who am I to complain.

Thanks baddawg! Limits are made for a reason, and if I do something, I expect to be succesfull at it. IF the state doesn't want me taking so much, then lower the limit.

Snit - Enjoy all those crabs and I hope who ever you give them to enjoys them as well. I am on your side. As long as you stay with in the limits of the law, no one has the right to judge you.

Nice work Snit. I'm with you all the way. At some point it's just not worth it to pluck your "one" critter from the sea and head home. And I live in West Seattle where it's pretty easy to get out on the water.

Glad to hear you were successful. If anyone wants to complain they should focus there attention on the commercials not some lowly sport guy limited to 6 crabs a day.
