I know this topic has been discussed in the past, but I can't seem to find the older threads...

So, I'll just ask away: I have a fiberglass rod that needs to have the guide at the rod tip replaced.

What is the easiest and safest do-it-yourself way to remove the old guide? I vaguely recall someone recommending use of a hair dryer to heat up the epoxy at the tip until the guide can be pulled out.

Basically, I don't want to apply too much heat that the blank gets damaged...

Suggestions? thanks in advance...

What Dan said.......use pliars tho, as you will burn your fingers if you try to pull it off after heating.

Like you thought, just don't get it to hot or the tip will be ruined. Just use the lighter but be careful.
