That's sweet. And he only had to burn about a gallon of gas to get that mega-hog.

I guess those high-falootin' writers in Pugetropolis didn't hear about FishNg1's big king last year.... the biggest king caught in WA marine waters in decades.

Need to give credit where credit is due.

Regardless, that 58.5 is a nioe fish and there is always hope of a bigger one this year.

When I had mine weighed at Westport on there Charter boat Scales it weighed just over 57 pounds (uncertified scale) and that is how they reported it. When I got back to Tacoma, I took it to Johnny's Seafood, and they weighed it at 60 lbs 5 oz. on a certified scale after it had sat in my cooler. Lots of witnesses to attest to the fact.

Like I said, that is a nice slab and would like to offer my congratulations. Lets see some pictures!

BYW, mine was 46 x 31.75 which calculates to 59.83 pounds on Bobs resource page.

I saw that king last Sat when I came in from fishing. Biggest king I have seen this side of Ketchican in 20 years.

29" girth X 49" length does not equal 58lbs., 53lbs. yes but not 58, I've used Bob's weight calculator for a couple years and it has always been within a pound. Don't get me wrong, 53lbs. is still a hog but 5 lbs. is quite a difference.

Gotta agree with AK Kings on this one.

I use a slightly more generous formula (divisor of 740 for kings) that calculates out to 55.7 pounds. FishNg1's pig went 62 pounds on my formula.

I am just glad to see all of this great news. I am headed to La Push for the first time in many years next weekend for some salmon fishing and I can't wait!

Yup. Nitpicking aside, it's great to see the run producing not only big numbers but BIG fish.

So why all the ruckus about Dave Vedder's record sized lingcod, but none whatsoever about this hog of a king?

I heard about this King from friends of mine that stayed in Neah Bay on Thursday night after our charter trip. They said it filled the wheelbarrow.
