Yesterday, 1 of our boats broke the 16 year old resort record king of 78.8lbs. with a 79.2 pounder, it was caught by a long time resort guest (women) and was landed in about 25-30 minutes. It measured 53"x35" and is the largest S.E. Ak. king landed so far this summer (there was also a 76lbs. brought into Craig about a week ago) I'll try and post some pics in the next day or 2.

What a beast. Would love to see some pics of that one. Has the weather been as fair there as down here this year? I was off Brooks Penninsula last weekend and it was nasty but the fishing was fantastic.

Yee Haw, they just keep in getting bigger and bigger. Now if we can just find a few of those mediums down here, it will be all good.
So far fishing down this way has been so so, so much in fact that they just changed the regs to reflect that.

FNP, gonna be out there tomorrow?

House bound for the weekend, Steve. Duty calls as I need to be available for the emergency room this weekend. The only fishing I'll be doing is on the web.

Gives me a good chance to pack up and get rigged for the Alaska trip next weekend.

Nice Fish!

So if my math is right, 53(35X35) divided by 820 = 79.2#. I've seen several formulas which use a divisor of 750 to 775 for chinooks.

My experience with pig chinooks has been that 800 to 820 seems more accurate.

Or was this just a long thin fish?
