No pic yet, but this is the biggest fish of the season .... so far. Headed that way tomorrow morning, so you never know!?

huge kenai king

The measurments are suspect as they don't match the stated weight by any reliable formula.... that girth of 37 would be almost unheard of for a Kenai king.... unless your name was Les Anderson. If the girth is real, they better take that fish to a certified scale.... it weighs a lot more than 86#! Anderson's world record 97.25# king measured 58.75 x 37.25 according to the IGFA. Check it out!

I'll bet that was a load to hang on to on the end of a dipnet

A 92 was taken I believe yesterday ... just saw Mike Kelly at dinner and he confirmed the rumor that I'd been hearing over the last day (no paper on Saturday here).

I'll post a link tomorrow, I'm sure there will be a story in the local paper.

Even the Ditch is kicking out some more nice ones ... two more qualified this week on my boat for state of AK Trophy Certificates: a 54.9 and a 54.1. Not bad for the "red-headed ******* stepchild river" ;\)

Bob

Mike Kelly gave me the same story about the 92 pound monster.... turns out it was a little closer to 85 or so. The way I understand it, Brad Adams got to keep the skin... the angler only wanted the meat. Will get the official weights and measures from the taxidermist.... soon.

Talked to the taxidermist yesterday...

The story I got is that Brad insisted that the fish be released, but reluctantly allowed the client to kill that monster with the understanding that he would obtain a skin mount... WHACK!

After the fish was in the box a while, the client had a change of heart, and decided to opt for a fiberglass replica instead. So in the end a spectacuar fish was sacrificed needlessly... WHAT A SHAME!

The client got the meat and Brad got the skin. The fish was never officially weighed, but the taxidermist did get some good measurements... 56 x 35... estimated at 92 pounds. A truly spectacular fish that was denied its reproductive destiny. Just makes me wonder how much longer the Kenai's giant strain of kings can withstand this type of "genetic cleansing". Hope attitudes begin to change across the entire lot of hawg-bonkers before it's too late.
