Ok ladies (I think some frequent this board) and gents, I just started salmon fishing this year and after going 0-2 on Lake Washington the last two weekends, I want to put my baby into the salt water and catch me a king or two.
I live in Sumner and since I live in between both Pt. Defiance and Elliot Bay, I could go to either but I want the best chance for catching Kings.
The question is where do I go and what do I use at either spot?

I'll be at Elliott Bay this weekend. Its only ten minutes to the West Seattle ramp from my house.
I have fished there the last two weekends, I got one 15lb on Friday the 16th in the evening and nothing on Saturday morning the 24th. There has been 2 fish over 40lbs caught from there so far.
If you go to Elliott Bay, fish early morning or the late evening. There does not seem to be any bite late morning or afternoon. Fish deep, most of the fish are being caught at 125+ feet deep. If you go to the West Seattle ramp in the morning, the line up will start around 3-3:30am, after 4:30am you will not find a parking spot in the lot.

Mau10man, suggest doin' the Defiance thing. You have more fishable places; slag, Dalco, clay banks, etc. etc., in a relatively short kick, and if one ain't happenin, you could move on to the next. Problem with elliot is you have upteen boats trying to fish a slot and your limited to the boundaries within. Sure big fish have come out of elliot, but that doesn't mean it's hot fishing. Seems like every year, a fluke big fish comes out of Robinson or Defiance anyways. Plus the boat house is almost guaranteed fresh bait where as I'm limited to whoever is selling bait at the launch at Armeni or mostly frozen. Just my $0.25........ Robert

I'm heading to the Pt Def area on friday. Have never fished there before, so we will see how it goes.

There is always Redondo too. There has been a good bite between tide changes in the late afternoon there lately.

Right, you can't retain Kings at West Point, Medow Point, Jeff Head, Kingston and Point Monroe. Shilshole Bay is closed completely to salmon fishing. Please read the regs. as a ticket would be expensive!
