I need to know how many feet behind the downrigger release ?

1) Flasher / squid or spoon

2) Flasher / cap herring

3) Dodger / squid

4) Dodger / coho killer

5) Spoon

6) Plug

Leader lengths ?

Right now the Hood Canal chinook are taking a 3.5 spoon five feet behind a small flasher, 30ft behind the boat trolling at 40-60ft over 65-135ft. \:D

The spoons on top have produced with more light. The bottom one works best the first hour until sunrise. ;\)

Getting back to answer your original question. The deeper i fish, the shorter the distance beween 'rigger release and flasher/dodger.
< 60 =30ft back
to 90=20ft back
> 90 =10ft back

This is just rule of thumb depending on where I'm fishing. Long lenghts do not fit well in crowded areas. Weather and water conditions will sometimes allow for shorter distances as well.(Like glacial silt at the mouth of the Puyalup R. 15ft back works well there.)
