Made 2 of my annual treks to the West Coast of Vancouver Island over the past three weeks. The fishing was fabulous. We spent part of our time fishing offshore along the 50 fathom line where we caught lots of Kings, Lings, and Yelloweye. This is a pic of our biggest king from offshore:

The second trip was with my brother and my daughter. They both go with me every year and Alexa is getting better and better at catching fish. Here's a pic with one of her fish (not that great an angle but she couldn't hold it by herself)

Here's a couple pic's of a pair of 30's I caught within 30 minutes one morning (actually weighed 32 and 36)

All in all it was a great trip. We released more than 30 kings that weighed above 20lbs.

where do you go for these fish? what were you using?

D3S - We were fishing up by the Brooks Penninsula and all the fish were caught on either plain spoons (large Gibbs etc), flasher and coyote spoons or anchovies. When fishing offshore we used strictly artificials, when fishing near shore we stuck to mostly bait. The offshore fish were mostly caught at a depth of 130 to 140' in 300 foot of water. The bait schools were so thick that it went from top to bottom alot of the time. Most of the fish caught were plugged with Pilchards that were 10 to 12 inches in length. I honestly don't know how some of them planned to stuff another fish down their gullet.

I had to look Pilchard up. It's a Sardine right?
