One of my fishing buddies played spectator Sunday and here's what he had to say:
I was a witness to little Rickys good fortune, Yeah, I took a trip down yesterday with my old timer pal/driftfishingguru "Beans". Our good fortune was limited to the fact that we both made it home alive, the only thing that I bagged was may Sage rod, snapped like a twig on one of my tearyourheadoffhooksets, it's on its way to Bainbridge as we speak for the warranty scrutiny...we'll see. As for the report, yeah it was hot...on the other side of the river, little Ricky was way up where the upper crowd lives, from 6:00 AM to 10:30 I saw about 1 doz hooked up there, a little lower was better probably 20 hooked, lower still was best, saw 30 or so hooked, not to say they were all landed but plenty of action, as far as "our" side of the river, I got there late and could not get in down below (where we fished) so I ended up straight across from the "hotspot", the grand total for "our" side of the river.....all morning.....I mean the whole side!!! 3 hooked 2 landed for everyone, pulled out and fished our way down until the old mans gut was so sick we had to leave, I just pulled on the oars and watched for fish in the tailouts, saw many, most boats had a fish or 2, a couple had a bunch and I think silvers are starting to show, saw lots of splishes and splashes in strange places.
