The summer run steelhead fishing is still pretty good down on the old zipperlip mother cow.I went with a buddy and his 9 year old son.We hooked 6 landed 4.The fish seem to be bigger right now then the past few weeks. The high light was watching the 9 year old named Ricky cast and hook and land his own fish,it ended up being the biggest of the day @ around 12lbs.Beleive me we heard about it the rest of the day to,he was RELENTLESS.Good luck,

Thanks for the update SZ. You may have inspired me to give her one more try this summer.

The family and I went down Sunday. Started about noon and went 6 for 10. Like strike zone said most of the fish were big and real chrome and not many boats around. One boat watched us pull 5 fish out of one hole in 4 drifts and they never touched a fish in that hole. I love days like that.

Some of my most memorable fishing events were when my father took me fishing with one of his buddies some 45 years ago or so. I can recall these experiences like they happened yesterday. I'll never forget them.

Ricky is one lucky fellow. Good on you, SZ!

One of my fishing buddies played spectator Sunday and here's what he had to say:

I was a witness to little Rickys good fortune, Yeah, I took a trip down yesterday with my old timer pal/driftfishingguru "Beans". Our good fortune was limited to the fact that we both made it home alive, the only thing that I bagged was may Sage rod, snapped like a twig on one of my tearyourheadoffhooksets, it's on its way to Bainbridge as we speak for the warranty scrutiny...we'll see. As for the report, yeah it was hot...on the other side of the river, little Ricky was way up where the upper crowd lives, from 6:00 AM to 10:30 I saw about 1 doz hooked up there, a little lower was better probably 20 hooked, lower still was best, saw 30 or so hooked, not to say they were all landed but plenty of action, as far as "our" side of the river, I got there late and could not get in down below (where we fished) so I ended up straight across from the "hotspot", the grand total for "our" side of the river.....all morning.....I mean the whole side!!! 3 hooked 2 landed for everyone, pulled out and fished our way down until the old mans gut was so sick we had to leave, I just pulled on the oars and watched for fish in the tailouts, saw many, most boats had a fish or 2, a couple had a bunch and I think silvers are starting to show, saw lots of splishes and splashes in strange places.
