Fished W'port w/ GP. We had 2 other boats in our party as well. All any of us could manage were coho all weekend -- although I have to admit, they were BIG coho. Ocean was quite sloppy Fri & Sat -- nice on Sun.

But FishNg1 had another big 'ol slab of a king on his boat! How does he do it?

You got any pics of that baby?

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

C'mon Steve, let's see the goods!

Lost our chance for a big hawg for this season's last hurrah, hooked on a whole herring. The rod pumped 3 times and then slammed down with line peeling at a decidedly vertical angle. My brother fought the thing for a few minutes... it just stayed deep... good sign of a big fish... yee ha! Then hopes were dashed as the line wet slack on a head shake.... reeled up to find both hooks missing on the 40# Maxima UG leader. Those big ones sometimes come armed with some serious choppers. Lots of undersized kings out there in 200' of water.

Boated a 5-man limit with only one small 28" keeper king on Sunday. Pic to follow.

Okay guys, heres the goods. First off my fishing week started out bad, as I had to work on Saturday due to technical difficulties. Then my fishing partner cancels on me at the last minute, so I decide to drive down by myself and fish. Lucky for me on Sunday morning there is a knock on the camper door and an old fishing buddy is standing there with his brother and partner. Well to make the story short, one of them went along with me. We caught some nice fish including 40 lb and 25 lb kings as well as some nice silvers to 19 pounds!

Here is the forty, looks like he's seen some fresh water somewhere.

Here is the 19 pound silver, quite the aerial acrobat this one was.

Then there was the 25 pounder caught by my buddy Pat Cebula.

And finally a group picture of a few fish from Sunday.

By the way it was nice to meet you in person Slabquest and Grandpa and to chat with Fishnut on the radio. There were lots of us PSA guys out there for the Last Hurrah!
Can't wait for next year, but then again we are not done yet.

Steve

Looks like one of those Columbia River Tules, Steve..... dusky fish that are bronze by the time they hit the river. The Oregon folks say the very large adipose fin is a dead giveaway.

As chinook matuire sexually (approach spawning) we some sexual dimorphism occurring - the males get darker, have larger, toothy, and hooked jaws etc. What we have noticed is that the ripeing males also develop larger adipose fins. It is likely what your friends in Oregon have noticed is indeed the case - the darker males do have noticable larger adipose fins.

I was fishing 26 feet for the Kings and 31 for the silvers. On Monday, with some cloud cover, we actually had luck at 15 feet. Caught most on whole herring and fish flash, and then swirthed to hot spot and cuttlefish and did just as well.

You mean like this one?

Your picture of your last big fish is at WDFW HQ in Olympia on the 5th floor.
