I really want to get in a few days at Sekiu this year but can not get away until Sept 24th. Based on past years is this to late?

I don't know about the 24th, but I was there over Labor Day weekend and there were a lot of coho being caught. Only had one slow day and that was Monday. Some guys were catching up to 25 coho to get their limits in a very short time slot. If I had to guess I would say the bulk of the run is coming through now.

Dave, you have mail. It should be good up until the area closes. We'll be fishing the weekend of the 17 for the derby.

The state saltwater coho record was caught in Sekiu one day before the close of season.

Quality, not quantity.

Dave, back in the old days when Sekiu was open year-round we caught nice coho well into Octber. The 24th will be fine. However, you might expect to find more unclipped wild fish that late, and it's also worth noting that the coho run seems early this year.

Last year I took my boat up on the weekend of the 27-28. Fishing wasn't really hot with about 50-50 on the native vs hatchery. We caught one really nice (estimating 20+ lb) hook nose coho but was a native and had to release it.
