Why not? They eat more salmon than sea-lions.

....because they don't steal your fish?

Pathetic.

I saw a documentary on Orcas that has them as either mammal eating type of orca's or fish type eating Orcas. They were either one or the other. If my memory serves right, don't we have the Orca's to thanks for visiting Hood Canal last year and putting a sizable dent in the seal population there? I still think the seals are a much bigger problem, especially around the Columbia river where I fish.

The resident ORCA populations J, K, L, all eat salmon, but for the most part, they eat fish headed to the Frazier system.

The Orca's that eat seals and sea lions are the "Transient" population. They come into Puget Sound for a quick snack, like in Hood Canal last year, and Penn Cove last week, make a few kills, and then head back out.

The transients are usually found in small groupls of 3-4 orcas, while the local Pods travel in larger groups.

Doesn't seem like we see the local pods inside Whidbey Island until late fall for some reason.

I say we let the Orca's have their share and get rid of the nets.

Could it be possible that the Salmon are here for the seals and orca first, and man second?

Maybe some of those that don't like them should try casting Buzz Bombs at a heard of sheep or cattle?
